Embedded World North America 2024: Key Takeaways & Industry Insights

Written by Damon Vance | Oct 29, 2024 6:56:04 PM

Earlier this month, we dove headfirst into the Embedded World North America Conference in Austin, TX. Surrounded by some of the brightest minds in embedded systems and AI-on-the-Edge, we had an amazing time exploring innovations redefining the industry. With more than 3,500 participants, the energy was contagious, and the insights were plentiful.

Highlights from Embedded World North America: A Peek into the Future

The conference brought a lot of excitement, from advancements in AI to innovations in power efficiency. Here’s what stood out at this year’s event:

  1. AI-on-the-Edge: Real-Time Smarts
AI on the edge took center stage, with keynote speakers like Matt Johnson, Daniel Cooley, and Kate Stewart showcasing how edge AI enables smarter, more autonomous devices. These innovations are reshaping industries, from industrial automation to consumer electronics, and we’re thrilled to bring these advancements into our own projects.
  2. Power Efficiency: Longer Battery Life, Lower Costs
Low-power innovations are paving the way for sustainable IoT devices and wearables. With new tech that minimizes energy consumption, it’s clear that power efficiency will continue to be a major focus as we develop solutions that last longer and perform better.
  3. Chip Design: Power Meets Efficiency
We were impressed by the sessions on chip design, which focused on the latest developments in System on Chips (SoCs). These advancements allow us to build more powerful, efficient devices capable of handling data-intensive tasks while maintaining low power requirements.
  4. Open-Source Hardware and Software: Faster Prototyping, Lower Costs
Open-source solutions were a big focus, with Kate Stewart and others discussing how they enable faster innovation and lower development costs. This trend aligns with our own goals, allowing us to build solutions that are more adaptable and accessible.
  5. Networking: Connecting with the Community
We had a fantastic time connecting with fellow tech enthusiasts, sharing insights, and discussing best practices. And it’s always great to catch up with our partners like Qualcomm and Arduino. While onsite, we also held nearly a dozen interviews for our Podcast Forging the Future with Chris Howard. The energy was electric, and the collaborative spirit of the event reminded us why we’re so passionate about what we do. There's more to come from Embedded World and other innovators so subscribe to Forging the Future and don't miss an episode.

Looking Forward: Gearing Up for the Future

Reflecting on our time at Embedded World North America, we’re more excited than ever to leverage these insights and drive innovation. From AI on the edge to low-power designs and open-source tech, the future of embedded technology is brighter than ever.

Thanks to everyone who made this year’s event unforgettable! If you’re as excited about the future of embedded tech as we are, stay tuned for more updates and insights.
